Alissa Kirby - President

Alissa is extremely passionate about social and environmental justice issues, and has dedicated her studies, career, and extracurricular activities to achieving progress in those areas. She is currently a Sustainability Advisor at ISS Corporate Solutions working closely with companies on their Sustainability vision and impact. Alissa has 10 years of experience in Sustainability and Environmental advocacy work and prior to ISS spent years working with non-profits such as Environmental Working Group and Food & Water Watch. Alissa holds a BA from American University in Environmental Studies and has a background in & passion for product and chemical safety.

victoria baxter - Executive Vice President

Victoria leads the Social Impact team at Weber Shandwick where she creates brave, data-driven and creative solutions for purpose driven brands and social issues. She has built engagement strategies for clients such as Roche, Abbott, Unilever, the U.S. Impact Investing Alliance, The Rockefeller Foundation, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the UN Refugee Agency and Save the Children. Before joining Weber Shandwick, Victoria was the Deputy Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the United Nations Foundation and a Senior Program Officer at the AAAS Science and Human Rights Program. A longtime resident of DC, she has a B.A. and M.A. in International Relations and Conflict Resolution from the American University.

Michael Cakmes - VP, Events & Programming

Michael currently works in DC at Fairtrade America as a Business Development Manager. In his role he looks to align brands with Fairtrade producers to leverage business as a source for social and environmental good. Before starting at Fairtrade, he earned his MBA from George Washington's School of Business, where he focused on Sustainable Management. Originally from Knoxville, Michael graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's in Supply Chain Management. In his spare time he enjoys living in DC and taking advantage of the outdoors, restaurants and neighborhood events. Michael served as the Executive Vice President for GW's Graduate Net Impact Chapter in 2017 and joined the DC Professional chapter in May 2019.

Ana Fraisse - VP, communications

Ana works in the Strategic Initiatives Department at PYXERA Global focusing on ideating, convening, and co-creating inclusive circular economy ecosystems in the transition from a linear take-make-waste economy to a regenerative and circular economic platform. as well as Corporate CSR/Shared Value Advisory Services. She leads the organization's internal Zero Plastic Waste initiative and is a founding member of the Environment Working Group. Previously, she worked on Enterprise and Community Development programs based in Ghana and Mozambique and managed the MBAs Without Borders Program.

Prior to working in the public sector, Ana spent time in the private sector as a Global Sales/Human Resources Intern focusing on corporate social responsibility and international sales at HM.CLAUSE, an international vegetable seed company. She excels in client engagement, strategic thinking, and public speaking, Ana is passionate in the areas of environmental conservation and private sector engagement.

 
 
 
 

Liz Matthews - vP, Partnerships

Liz has spent over 20 years working in the public, private, and government sectors. Currently, she is the Associate Director of Employer Relations at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. In this role she helps connect students to opportunities in social impact.  Liz has held communications and marketing positions at the federal agency that runs AmeriCorps, two national nonprofit organizations, a fortune 500 company, and a tech start-up. She received her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Liz is into yoga, sailing, and her book club. She lives on Capitol Hill with her husband and 7 year-old daughter. 

 
 

Chynna Pickens - VP, Social Media & Events

Chynna moved to Washington, D.C. in 2019 after graduating with a degree in Environmental Studies from Northeastern University. She previously worked at the American Chemistry Council, a trade organization for the chemical manufacturing industry. She now works as an ESG Consultant with Corporate Citizenship, an ESG consulting firm, part of SLR Consulting. She began attending DCNI events shortly after moving to the area and joined the Board in July 2021. She lives in Maryland with her mini Labradoodle and enjoys taking boxing and spin classes.
